Cast Iron vs Alloy

G'day guys and Girls.

Other than the obvious weight saving, what are if any, advantages to going alloy over cast iron heads. Given the same head design.

HI AUSSIE, I think the alum. it the way to go, even it you have the same flow rate as the steel, you can get some advantage by being able to run higher compression with the same fuel, and that will pick you up some power, also the weight savings will make a nice difference and the best thing is, if you ever hurt them they are easy to repair. Im not saying that the steel units are bad but I think with the quality and price now for an alloy head today it just makes good sense. Good luck on your choice and just do some research and make a good decission on you runner volume and chamber size... remember on heads bigger is not always better, just like cams and induction you should choose the components that will work with each other.
