tpi intake manifold leak!

attention everyone, i need advice on the easiest way to take the intake manifold off the engine to fix a leak. i want to avoid taking out the distributor. the hole is letting out coolant near the passenger side by the valve cover. it is a small hole but it's letting out enough coolant to make me feel uncomfortable about driving it. i need advice fast. please can someone help me out.

Sure it's the intake? If your taking the lower intake off, the distributor will have to come out since it is bolted to it. You can take the distributor cap off and mark the position of the rotor on the distributor housing and mark the housing to the intake manifold. Pull it out and when you go back together line all the marks back up. If that does not work you will have to time it. Pull the #1 plug and bring the motor up on compression stroke. Use the timing mark on the balancer to make sure it is on top dead center. Drop the distributor back in and point the rotor directly pointed at the #1 cylinder. Then you will need a timing light to set it at 6* (stock position) or around 10-14 (for performance). Don't forget to unplug the timing wires for the computer---should be located around your heater box should be a 2 wire connector 1 brown and 1 black if I remember correctly. It sounds like alot but it isn't that difficult.

Remove distributor cap. What part is that? The part where the spark plug wires attach?

And with what do you mark it with, magic marker I'm guessing?

Now how do I go about installing it back in? Do I turn it until all the lines match up?
