TPI power limits
I want to put some darts or afrs on my 355 but I want to know if tpi would be the better option(I have tbi with a 454 tbi and prominator now) instead of a 1200 dollar mpfi setup.
Basically what I want to know is how much hp and tq can you get tpi to support. I looking for somewhere around 450 hp and 475 ft lbs of tq(if i get the afrs) With bigger injectors, plenum, throttle body, etc. and how much could it be done for? I have a lead on a good complete tpi setup... what should I offer as a starting price?
I will be putting a better cam on (I have camel humps now) and it has 10:1, 3" single exhaust and headers, intake,

I'm on the same quest with my TPI. Right now I have 330RWHP with an automatic transmission. MadMax has 331RWHP with stock TPI runners. With a 20% loss this computes to 412BHP on my setup.
The Dart 200cc heads and the AFR 195's you have quoted will do the trick. I would have them massaged. With the stock TPI you will have to ditch the intake manifold and the runners. Go with aftermarket manifold and runners.
Best bet is a used TPIS Big Mouth intake manifold as it has been opened up more than the Edelbrock. For runners get the SLP and port the heck out of them. There are threads on siamesed SLP runners with pictures. Do a search. You will want the parts to flow in the 270CFM range.
I would get one of the Comp XFI cams either the 218 or the 230. Get a good stiff valve train meaning rockers and pusrods. You will need a custom cold air intake if a Pontiac or modify the stock one if a Camaro. You will also need a first class exhast system.
When you build your engine pay close attention to your deck height and quench dimension. Run at least 10.5:1 compression. I will be at 10.72:1 with my rebuild. These are the basics for a high horsepower/torque TPI system.
