whats is the difference between tpi and tbi distributers

whats is the difference between tpi and tbi distributers

yes i have searched and i couldnt come up with anything good

basically i bought a l98 to replace my l03 and the guy tookt he distributer... what do i need to change on mine to make it work ? if it helps im keeing my tbi harness and converting it to a tpi harness

No difference. There were 2 distributors, the large cap and small cap computer controlled dist. The small cap dist uses an external coil. The small and large cap use a different plug so you may have to splice it if you are going from one type to the other, otherwise if you are staying with the same style dist that your harness uses there is no difference.

The only one that is different is the truck TBI. There is an inherent rev limiter built into a factory issued truck TBI ignition module. Other than that, yep, all the same.

Does anyone know the number that would be on the truck module?
I have a box of junk yard distributors and don't know whether they are tbi truck, tbi car, or tpi.
