Fuel Filters Plug Quickly
Hey everyone!
My fuel filters seem to plug and effect my power dramatically rather quickly. If I change them, I'll have amazing power and response for about 500 miles, then it seems to peter out. Engine still runs fine, it just doens't have the response it did if it has fresh filters. This is my setup:
Tank->Low pressure high volume pump->low pressure carb filter for pre-filter->high pressure pump->high pressure filter->Fuel rail.
Do I need bigger filters? Different filters? Any other ideas?

Sounds like you have crud in your tank that the filter is catching.See if a local radiator repair shop can flush out your tank or replace it.Also the filters that I changed that were really dirty usually came from the cars that bought fuel at the lowest price station in town. Not worth the aggravation of having to replace the filter often and the risk of damaging the pump from overworking it.Good Luck, Mike

I did fill with mid-grade fuel last time I filled and thinking about it, the gas did smell funny as I was pumping.
But this is a consistent occurance. About 6 months ago I dropped my tanks to put new fuel lines on and I popped the top on the tank and it looked super clean inside. I was surprised. I don't think that's it.
One person I spoke to today said to check my fuel pressure. If I have a weak pump, then when the filters get slightly plugged it can't supply sufficient pressure. Going to check the pressure tomorrow, but I'm expecting it to be up to spec.

did you replace your pulsator and rubber hoses INSIDE the tank? Any deterioration or deformation or tears will cause a pressure loss.Don't ask me how I figured that one out.
