Alot of help
Hey everyone I know this can be put alot of places but I hope I can get the responses that I need from here. I have a 87 iroc and it has a 2.73 drum rear end. I have a 3.27 that I want to put in and it has rear disc, now I know that I have to remove the residual check ball or whatever check valve it is thats holds pressure on the rear drum brakes. Now after I remove that what modifications do I have to make in order for the emergency brake and the brake lines work. Any information that I could get would be greatly appreciated. Now another question I have is about something that I should know but I dont. When I drained my oil I noticed that it had a white layer and a regular layer. Now this is a fresh top end and I had been very liberal with the assembly lube and wd40 could this cause the discoloration. If not what could. Again any information anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time in advance.

Hello
I have never assembled a motor uing WD40 as it is a cleaner and I am not sure of the reaction when it is mixed with oil and whale sperm (assembly lub). I think you may want to check the anti freeze/coolent mixture to see if it is still all there. White in the oil for me has always been antifreeze in my oil. usualy from a blown head gasket, or sometimes a cracked head. I hope you got the heads from a repitible source. before removing the heads retork all the headbolts to make sure that there was not a loose one. When done add some cheep 10W30 oil and 1 quart of tranny fluid and a new oil filter. Start the motor and run for 10 minents "DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR"[ AFTER THE MOTOR HAS RAN DRAIN THE OIL AND DO another oil and filter change. the tranny fluid will clean out your motor from all sluge and gunk that may be in it. Let us know what you findout, or if you really want to know what is in your oil send in a sample to be tested.

Thanks for that but I am not home during the week. So when I go home I will pull the valve covers and check the torque on the head bolts. They are ARP and I checked them a few times when I put them togeather but you never know. I wasnt sure if the wd 40 could have had some effect such as foaming or some other effect that would cause the discoloration that I saw. But again thanks for the input if anyone else has any other ideas on the oil problem or any tips for the rear end swap I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance
