LT4 Hot Cam install and now it wont idle
I just put my new motor in and I am having a lot of trouble getting it to idle. You can see everything I did to it in my sig. Right now I just want to get the car to idle so I can begin setting the timing and ultimately burn a chip for it which I know it needs.
What I am up against right now is it will only idle if I hold the throttle around 1500 - 2000 rpms. Its running extremely rich which I expected until I tuned it anyway.
Where would you all suggest I start to try and get it to idle? At this point I would be happy with around 1000rpms if I can get there.

Turn the distributor (while holding the RPMs up enough to run), and try to get it to a spot that idles higher with same throttle input. Should be able to idle at least.

Dont even drive it like that.
24# inj put u almost at the limit of factory correctabililty on a stock car.
The Hotcam combined with the injectors is making your car stupid rich +1 at idle.
Set the FP to stock and have someone burn you a chip with 24# IC and take out about 12-15 % fuel at idle and below 1300 rpms. Might want to add some timing to. Can fudge that for now and just bump it to 8 or 10 degree to get her to idle.
Should help you out some right there.
You are also going to have to reset the TB, IAC and TPS(I know its a 91 but is can be done using the older style TPS depending on how far u end up needing the blades)
later

The local SBC engine builder (Golen's Engine Service) always works with PCM For Less. So I call him on Friday and worked out a deal to get a chip made just to get it to run decent for right now. I've still got a bit of work to do before it is on the road. Once it is on the road I can start data logging and modifying the bin.
For the price he gave me on the chip I really cant complain. It will be a good starting point and allow me to drive the car.
The TPS on my throttle body is the one for the earlier style which allows me to adjust the position which is helpful also.
I'll let you know how it runs once the chip is in there.
