I ran at route 66 yesterday

It was a fun day there were a few third gens there. I was able to make 8 passes. I just installed 24# ford racing injectors, 1.6 roller rockers, and a cloyes double roller billet steel timing set. Car wasnt running like it should cause of the injectors I am getting a chip burnt. I had the best times with timing at full advance like 16 degrees. Car idled like crap like that though. It was bogging off the line, a little hitting second, and hitting third it would fall on its face for a sec then pull crazy after that. I ran 14.51 at 96mph. I was dusting my buddys 2006 mustang gt all day and it is stick. My other buddys 96 ss ran the best time of 14.1. After bogging in third I was pulling on him hardcore and I have 3.73. I expect to pick up a sec with a good tune. If i had a vigilante tourqe converter and some stickies this thing would be awesome. My other mods are ported plenum, slp runners, transgo shift kit fully manual, edlebrock shorties, no cat, flowmaster, k&ns, removed air system, all accel ignition. Guy I got the car from said it had cam, pistons, ported heads and intake but the heads and intake are not ported so I doubt it has a cam or anything.

You'll probably want to back off the timing once a new chip is burnt. I'm guessing it was banging itself against the knock sensor (giving a bog), then coming back after it over-compensated (pretty much surely lots of knock, since it happens on shifts - auto tranny, right?). But at higher RPMs more timing than stock can usually help. The extra richness surely didn't help anything, except maybe hold back knock some.
Those are about stock times, but a smidge faster (but not sure of your altitude).

You may want to get an MSD ignition 6AL, with the coil and wires. I installed 24s on my buddies 89' and it would idle really rich and was so soft off the line it wouldn't break the tire (one tire fire, and a 3.08 gear it was a 305 TBI, until I got a hold of it 350 TPI now), with the MSD and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, it idled 100X better and would rip that tire to death in first.

Yeah I definately will back the timing down when I get my chip. When I ran at 8 degrees it didnt really bog but was slower. My fastest times where all the way advance with alot of bogging. I know Ill run 13s with the new chip. I was thinking about the accel digital ignition. No one seems to like accel on this site but I love them. Ive heard of alot of people having probs with msd.

According to a book I am reading "chevysmalblock performance vol.2(1982and up)

It says that you don't really notice alot of sifference with some cc chambered heads. Also the fact TPI's topend is around 5000ish . I just don't get why TPI would need one ( MSD)
