Throttle & detent cable bracket, are there two????
I'm swapping from a manual to an auto. I ordered a detent cable for a 92 but it will not reach from the bracket to the throttle body. Are there two different brackets? I did a search but found no answers. Please help.

There's only one bracket on mine. Are you sure you're routing it through the proper section of the bracket? Are you using a 700R4 or a TH350 Trans?

I'm using a 700R4. The problem is from the bracket to the throttle body. If the cable is seated in the bracket and is fully extended will not reach. This is with it totally disconnected from the trans. If there are no differences in brackets (early or late config) I'm going to have to say the dealer sold me the wrong cable. I asked about the brackets because there was an old post asking, or hinting there were two types, an early and a late.

Throttle body styles were different for a couple years, I have the 90-92 style TB and cables. I'm nowhere near my car at the moment or I'd post a couple pics for you, that plus the engine's out of it at the moment haha.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, here is my issue. The cable is not attached to the trans, and everything is adjusted forward. As you can see I still need two inches or so.

I'm a moron. As much as I would like to delete this and save face, I'll leave it up so if anyone else runs the same issue it will come up on a search. It appears that the factory puts a clip on the trans end for shipping that needs to be removed prior to install. I have apparently been working on Fords too long.
Thanks for the replies guys.
