Faulty EGR temp switch?

Hi all,

My TPI system is throwing a code 32 and does it the moment the engine starts. This implies that the temp switch is closed on start up according to material I've read. I haven't done a vacuum check on the EGR valve, but there is a short between the EGR temp switch and ground with the power turned off. Does this mean that the switch is dead and I need a new one? Can the switch be fixed at all? If I start the engine with the temp switch disconnected then I don't get a code 32. The ECM provides 12V at C15 with no problems.

There is a connector for the temperature switch right at the switch, and IIRC there may be another one buried in the wire harness right next to the distributor. Disconnect the "easy" one if it's there, turn on the ignition, and see what happens.

I disconnected the "easy" connector by the distributor and I don't get a fault code. But it doesn't cause the switch to open at all because when I switch the engine off, reconnect this connector and try again the fault code comes back.
