Won't idle till warmed up

I have an 86 IROC. I dumped the 305 and dropped in a 350. I'm still running the 305 computer, harness, and chip. I then added a cam, Miniram, and throttlebody, and headders and managed 13.7's on motor, but when I start it up cold it won't idle by itself untill it warms up. Once it's warmed up it runs great. I just put on a set of AFR 180's and obviously it's worse, but once again after it warms up, it will idle on its own. I haven't got to run it or beat on it yet, but it seems to drive fine. Will a custom chip remedy this? Also because the Miniram doesn't have a cold start injector, I have been using the fuel side of my nitrous kit to start the car. Can you do anything to the computer or chip to use the injectors instead of my dangerous setup? Please help. It's getting nice out and i'm tired of driving my 4 banger Toyota Pickup. Thanx.

lol

U got a can of worms here.

Hit the DIY PROM board and start edumacating yourself on the world of prom tuning in the stickies up top.

Basically eveything u asked about is there.

Runnign the 89 code will let u keep the maf and get rid of the cold start issues. As would changing the 86 values to the equivelant 89 ones.

Start reading and go from there.

later

Your first maf table is lean. You are still using the 305 settings and it is looking for the additional fuel enrichment for start-up. Use the 6e code and adjust the 1st maf table then tune it.

Thanks for the help fellas but the whole diy prom idea reads like latin to me. How do I obtain the 89 prom info? Isnt there a way to do the programming "in car" via laptop without removing the chip?

There is no way to program the chip thru the aldl port, you must pull the chip. You can read the bin thru the aldl port using moates software and a cable, but you will have to pull the computer to re-burn the prom.

Try cartek in NJ, they do ecm tuning.

You could also try bumping up the fuel pressure to see if that helps, but it will only be a crutch until you adjust the settings in the chip.

Fuel pressure.. i'll try that for now. Forgot about that. Thanks for the help. All my friends here drive crustangs so asking them to help is like is like driving one; not gonna happen. What about Racecrafters in Lancaster, PA? Anyone ever deal with them?
