Hey, and welcome to the forum! This topic is widely discussed daily and an answer can be found by using the search feature and typing in "emissions, pass inspection, AIR system", etc, things of that nature.

You won't mess anything up by removing it, but what you have to worry about is inspection. If you live in an area where that is not an issue, then you are fine. Some people on here have claimed that they can still pass by taking out the smog pump and the AIR tubes.

removing the smog pump , cat and stock air box shouldnt mess with the computer to get a check engine but will become in some states a illegal smog car and will fail state emissions testing so far ive pulled the a/c , smog pump , smog lines and the cat = NOTHING BAD YET lucky enough only fines in michigan are for cars burning oil severely not for smog testing

As I always say, removing your emissions equipment is a FEDERAL offense, punishable by a fine, jail time, and/or both, if you get caught. Even if your state or locality doesnt have emissions testing, its still illegal to remove it. Also, we hot rodders get a bad name already by the general public, so why add to it with this?
