Recommended octane for a LB9 TPI 5.0 engine?

Car: '85 El Camino SS
Engine: 305
Transmission: Turbo2
Axle/Gears: 3.42
Sure it can but I would recommend midgrade. Compression is only 9.3 so it should run ok. I always run premium but recent prices have me wondering if its worth it.

I belive the owners manual recomends 92 octane for TPI 305 and 350. I ran regular in mine and all I got was spark not and pigging. Id stay with atleast mid grade.

i have a lb9 and i run 87 in it and i beat the hell out of it with no pinging at all, keep it at stock timing and ull be fine. good luck!

I am running 87 in mine and it's been working great. No spark knock or any issues. I am running 12* inititial timing as well. I thought I'd have to back the timing off, but apparently I didn't have to.
