What do I need to switch rear ratio?

I have a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z with 2.73 POSI rear with discs. Let's say i would like to go to 3.42, what do I need? Ring and pinion only or other stuff too? I'll probably buy used... Do all years will fit?

Thanks!

First off you have a 9-bolt Borg Warner 2.77's right?. Other bw ratios include 3.27's,3.45's and 3.70's. The only ones still re made are the 3.70's. To go to a [lower] ratio you will need a 3 series carrier. Pretty sure randys ring and pinion still sells them. I also know that 9 bolt.com use to sell used 3.27's and 3.45 9 bolt gears. The sites been down for awhile though. Maybe try a junk yard or post in the parts wanted section of this forum. Good luck.

No it's a 10-bolts with 2.73, not 2.77...

Do they sell to Canadian people?

That's why I wan't to buy a used set... Any mechanic have the tools to install that or I should bring him the kit you're talking about?

Info:
You have a 2-series carrier and want to use a 3-series gear set. Standard gear sets will not work, you will require a spacer or thicker gears, .
