Cracked rotor

my new replacement rotor fell on the floor and a chip near the metal piece on the side wall of it chipped of
was wondering if it would make the spark arc or something? because the idle and stuff seems worse then before.. i replaced it and the cap because of only 4000 volts to cyl 6 and 8

Theyre cheap enough that Id replace it. Cap and rotor are pretty important to make sure they are in near perfect condition.

Without a doubt, the rotor falling on the floor more slowly would be preferable. Perhaps moving to a location with a lower gravitaional attraction would be advantageous. Or, carpeting the garage could be a temporary safeguard until you can arrange the relocation.

In other words, bite the bullet and get another rotor. If it's more of a scratch than a crack, it might be servicable. Have a photo?

Yeah, a new rotor will be safest. About a lifetime ago, I had a Cadillac towed off the tollway when it died coming out of a toll booth. It was about a $150 tow bill to go a couple miles (just to get it off the interstate) for a $4 rotor that broke down the middle. Freakiest thing that I ever had happen, and I don't think I dropped it (it had run over a year with no problems - it just let go).
