Clean my injectors or not?
I have a set of used 350 injectors going in my freshly rebuilt engine and I am wondering if I should bother having them cleaned and tested or just put them in and if/when they go bad replace them with new then? I ask because I dont want to spend 100 dollars on old used injectors if I can get brand new ones for 200. If thats the case, I want to put them in this weekend while I have some time off. Otherwise, if I go with having them cleaned I have to wait for the holiday weekend to end and either drop them off at the local dealership on Tuesday or ship them out Tuesday to like Cruizin Performance or something. Which means paying shipping as well.
Thats actually part 2 of the question. If it is more feasable/worthwhile to have them cleaned, is it better to have the local dealership do it or pay to ship them off to Cruizin Performance? Is Rich over there better than say a dealer?
Thanks, and sorry for the mini novel here...

Not sure what year motor they are off of. They have 5235302 stamped on them which I have gathered means they are the 22lb. 350 injectors. Aside form that Im not sure how to tell what manufacturer they are.
There is also a "742" on where the electrical connector plugs in. Not sure if either of numbers help in determining manufacturer...

I wouldnt bother getting used ones and then sending them out for a cleaning. At 20-30$ an injector, you are looking at over $300 just for the cost of the old ones with cleaning. At that point, I'd invest in a set of brand spankin new ones.

There are a few little spots inside the screens that have very small pieces of crud...rust particles maybe, cant really tell. The bottoms look ok, but you probably cant tell much in the way of the clogged/fouled pintle from looking at it from the outside. Basically, if they are worth sending out for $100 and having cleaned, i will do it. But if they will fail in less than 30K miles anyway regardless of cleaning or not, I would rather just slap them in and buy new when the day comes. Also, is Rich the way to go then or a local dealership/shop? Thanks for the replies so far...helping me decide if Im doing an injector swap this weekend or sending them out and doing it another weekend :-)

I didnt have to pay for the ones im talking about cleaning, so its only the cleaning cost being factored here so far, but I get what youre saying. Buying a set of used ones for $150 and having to spend another $100 to get them cleaned, why bother. Im just asking if the cost of cleaning is worth it or if waiting until failure and then buying new ones is the way to go.
