305/350 computer the same for TPI?

I have a donor 305 TPI w/ computer/wiring etc. I'd like to know if it can be used on a 350 if I do some PROM work on the chip. I understand that the manifold/runners/plenum were the same on both engines. Will I need a new computer to make it work? I tried a search, but it didn't work. Anyone else try this before? If it works as easy as I'm told (plug and play) I might use the TPI on all my future projects. I'm gonna have to learn more about PROM though! Thanks for any help.... Daniel U

yes the ECM is the same for both engines, BUT the memcal/prom chip is different. Several other things will have to be changed also. Knock sensor for one. If the car is a Mass Air Flow setup you will propably have to change the Electronic spark Control module on the firewall.

I'm in the process of swapping my 305 TBI for a 350 TPI. I wish I had a donor car.

it should help a lot actually. You probably won't use some of the connectors on the harness. Depends on if you're using a mechanical fan or electric. Also our cars use HEI distributors, not sure what your going with on your engine. There are a few other things but its early wher I'm at and I can't think right now.

Any help is useful. I've never done this before. I will be using the HEI style on my truck as well as an electric fan.
