Custom Intake Over Stock Fork Intake

I started looking into fabbing up a CAI for my camaro with the forked type intake. I have the fog lights removed and ducting running up to the filters. I don't like how thin the airbox is though, looks extremely restrictive.

Would it be worth it to get rid of my "ram air" intake system with restrictive airbox over a freer flowing CAI without a "ram effect"?

the only way to see if it is really worth it is to take it to the trak and see how the car reacts to it

I don't think you'll see much(at all) of a gain. Camaro Intakes are pretty good, and your's is setup even better.

But if you want to, go ahead, like you said, if think that the intake is restrictive and it will give you peace of mind to do something about it---do it.

i think mine is restrictive, i read somewhere on here someone used the stock tpi air cleaner assembly on an stock ls1 swap and he dynoed it, then when he removed the tpi air cleaner, and dynod again, 17hp was gained.

Yeah, I think that it could be a serious bottle neck because the cleaner box is about 3/4" tall, which is pretty thin imo. I just wish there was a way to make the box taller without the hood hitting it.
