What is this sensor on the passenger cylinder head?

Hi everyone,
On the passenger side cylinder head on a 350 top there is a sensor between the numbers 6 and 8 spark plugs. I need to know what it is. There was an oil leak in my car and the number 8 wire and the block below it have oil on them. The sensor right there is broken and it appears this is where the oil is leaking. I need to know what this sensor is so I can replace it or plug that hole.

Coolant temperature sensor. If it was leaking, it would be coolant, not oil.

the sensor that has broken is located on the head. it is actually the radiator fan switch. as stated it would be leaking coolant not oil. more than likely the oil is coming from a failing valve cover gasket.

Ditto, its the fan switch for fan two.

As a bonus when u replace it , get a high speed fan switch(what it will be under for a GN/Turbo Regal) it will kick the fans on about 20-25 degrees cooler.

Cost is the same

Oil leak is prolly coming from your rear wall between the block and the intake, I had exact same problem after my rebuild. It's difficult to get a perfect seal along there.

thanks for the replies, maybe it wasn't oil leaking, maybe it was coolant, i'll replace the sensor anyway because it's obviously broken. My fans are hardwired to be on all the time though, so maybe i'll just plug it. and if fluid still leaks I'll look for the oil leak at the back of the manifold, I just hate taking off the superram, it's a pain
