383 TPI question

Hi all,

I bought a SUPER CHEAP 84 stick shift Corvette last year and have been working on getting ready to start doing some upgrades. I was referred to this forum by Mike Gray at Home

My original intent was to just replace heads/cam/and CFI on this car to get some performance out of it but this is what I have bought thus far and wanted to know other peoples opinion on a motor swap.

I have:
Trickflow Heads 2.02/1.60 valves (triple springs / 64cc combustion chmbrs)
Crane Cams 1.52 roller rockers
Crane Cams Stud Girdles
TPI from 85 Model Vette (doing porting etc)
Wiring harness from 85 Vette
255lph Intank Fuel pump
(Havent picked out a cam yet)

I have a guy who is trying to trade me a 383 Stroker for a Banshee 4 wheeler I have and I am excited about the idea to replace bottom end while I am doing all this conversion but my question is Will all my sensors hook to this 383? It is a gen 1 block so that shouldnt be an issue but I know there is crank position sensors and knock sensors etc.... Has anyone done this swap where you keep a TPI and been able to use all the stock sensors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Brian

No idea bout the crank sensors, but the rest of the stuff should bolt straight up.

I had a 73 block running TBI with just re-adjusting the angle of the intake manifold bolt holes. The knock sensor threaded straight in, dizzy dropped right down. The only problem I ran into other than the intake manifold bolt angles was that my oil pressure line was a different size, and I had to run an older oil pressure gauge.

You gonna keep the TPI intake setup? If so the least I'd do IMO is port it all out. You'll still have tons of tq too

AFAIK, there is no CKP used on the '85 TPI system. Are you using an aftermarket EFI controller?
