i know how to get the engine light to flash by jumping the a and b and i know what all the codes are (thanks to hayes) it just doesn't explain how to read the trouble codes....i know i have a few flashing.....i just can't read them.........oooooh and another question......this isn't related to my car but i was woundering if anyone knew if a bad/weak coil would cause very bad performance and the cat to glow real bright orange......

 

the way you read them is thi.

lets say you have code twelve*which you wilkl when you jumper the computer to read codes( it goes like this. fllash.pause.flash flash. and ittl repeat this 3 times.
another example code 32. flash flash flasfh. poause. flash flash. and itll repeat this 3 times as well.

also the glowing cat could be caused by a clogged cat.

 

ok well i got that much....but is it the same for each code or is it different for each of them...this is all just confusing lol......but about the cat being clogged...we took the cat off and blew it out which fixed the cat glowing but still didn't fix the very bad performance problem...it's a v6 and it feels like its running on 3 cylinders....i was thinking maybe it had blown a head gasket but theres no other signs that it is....my brothers 240sx had basicily the same problem and we changed the coil and it fixed it......any help would be great.....ohhhh and btw its a gm 3.1 liter tb v6
