LT4 hotcam with 1.6 rockers or the cc503 cam. The hotcam will pass emissions and the cc503 should. I can not say for sure on the cc503 as mine is still on the shelf waiting to go in the tpi or lt1 when I get the swap started or rebuild the tpi. Both have a slight "lope" but if you must pass an emissions test I would not go with more cam.

With 3.27 gears I would go with something a little smaller such as the LPE cams of a 211/219 or the 219/219 cam. Many people have great results with them. Any comp or crane cam in the 214/220 would work great too. The LT4 is a good cam but meant for a little higher gearing and better flowing intake/exhaust. It will be better with more compression too. I have a hot cam in a 355 TPI engine with TFS heads. I just kinda tossed that engine together so I didn't have to drive a 305 all summer.

I have 2 TPI cars (67' Camaro & 91' Chevy truck) using the chevy ZZ4 cam. Works great with TPI and it's not that expensive. About $200.00 from Pace Performance. My 3rd TPI car (87' IROC 3.27 gears) has a 383 with TPIS ZZ9 cam, maybe a little too expensive but it is a modified ZZ4 grind (more radical than a ZZ4). All my cars are MAF systems like yours, so a cam change requires NO re-programing!!!

While it may require no change to drive and accel with that cam and MAF let's not lead him to believe that there are not large improvements to be made with tuning an ecm, any ecm.
