TPI cam question

I'm looking for a cam for a TPI engine that would essentially eliminate the need for an EGR valve. What kind of specs should I look for? wider or tighter lobe seperation? more or less lift? duration? This will be for a 350 down the road but just in case how about a 305 as well.

More duration and tighter lobe separation. I have an LT4 HOT cam w/out EGR and had no problems passing emissions on the treadmill.

Passing emissions isn't a problem as I don't have to take the sniff test anymore, just the safety test since it's pre-'96. How's the driveability of the car with that cam?

It's good. The engine idles at 800 rpm, although I've had it less than 700 rpm and it wasn't too choppy.

Would that cam be too much for a 305? Just in case I get into one of those dare to be different moods.

305 with lt4 hot cam sounds awesome. But the power band will be to high for a TPI intake. Would be great with an HSR, which you can get since you wont need the EGR

Love that sound! That's a 350 with the LT4 cam, right?

305 and a hotcam. Read my post

The 45 less cubes dont eat up the cam as much.

I'll be using the Hotcam with my LT1 intake 355 motor. That sounds sweet, I love Brisk's car!

Whats the biggest cam people run in they're TPI motors? I think mine isn't huge but it's big enough to make some power.

I am running an LT4 Hot Cam in my built 355TPI. It is a great cam, idles good at 750 - 800 but the power band is shifted to high for the intake. It really starts to pull at 3000rpms and TPI will only really pull to 5500 max.

My TPI is a BBK 58mm, Edelbrock base + runners, Accel 24 lb/hr injectors all bolted onto a pair of Trickflow 195's w/1.6 rockers.

A stealth ram intake would be the way to go, or an LT1.

To really get the most out of the cam have a custom chip burned or do it yourself. I didnt have the time to do it so I have Alvin and PCMForLess do it for me. A couple iterations with some datalogging and my car ran perfectly. Not to rich which is where it was on the stock chip.

I definately dont regret building it by any means. This car has so much torque its insane. Now my complete TPI is for sale. If anyone is interested check it out in the parts for sale section.

The other cam that will make tons of power with TPI is a Comp 502 cam and a 1.6 rocker. Max lift is .560 on both sides with similar duration as the LT4 Hot Cam.

Doesn't the hotcam pull to around 5800? I read somewhere the range was like 1800-5800 or something.

Starting to rethink the 350 after hearing that. How well does the car run with it? Any info on his combination?
