general timing issues - maybe a fix

ok, this is to everyone who has timing issues. in my 92 l98, i was having high ilde issues, well my dad and i took a week to find the problem, and this is it, the distributer cap has shaken itself loose, maybe try checking that, its a super easy fix that you can do with no money, jsut a timing light. the reason i say this is because we would have never found it, but i bumped it with a screw driver wile checking for vaccume leaks for the 3rd time. maybe is a issues someone elce is having, and i haver herd a lot of timing issues, hopefuclly that helps you out.

Do you mean the distributor hold-down nut wasn't fully tight so engine vibration would cause the distributor to turn gradually throwing the timing off?

Well, I'd assume it would want to turn clockwise. I think, not too sure, that happened to me. I was adjusting my timing one day and set it to where I wanted it. A couple of days later, something didn't feel right. I checked again and the number was off from where I set it. I discovered that the hold down nut could have been tightened a bit more. Once I adjusted it again, I made sure to tighten it down best as I could. Since then it's been fine and has stayed where I put it. I assumed that driving the car those couple of days caused the distributor to rotate and throw off the timing. It was very slight, but we all know that the slightest turn will move that timing mark. I could have been crazy, but that's what it seemed like. Is it possible??
