cam choice on a 305 TPI
looking for a quick opinion or two on the two cams i'm deciding between, i've got an 86 Z28 with a 305 TPI
its got a ported plenum and a full exhaust
the two cams i'm looking at are
1. dur at 050 inch lift intake: 204 exhaust: 214
lift. intake: 420 Exhaust: 442
the other 2. dur at 050 in lift, intake: 214 exhaust: 224
lift. intake: 442 exhaust: 465
i'd like to do little to no tuning so which would you guys recommend for the most bang for the buck?
i'm leaning more towards the first one
thanks for any help
car is also a 700R4 car that will evenually have a small-medium stall
its got a ported plenum and a full exhaust

what a coincidence, I have the 2nd cam you listed as well. I will say it is borderline too much cam for a mild 305. Like Roachjuice's car mine went 14.80s with that cam, headers, and the stock torque converter. I then swapped converters and put on the aluminum heads and went 13.90s. Then I ditched the automatic and am now going 13.70s with 13.50s possible. That is an OK cam for a 305 especially if you are going to port the heads or install better heads. With the stock torque converter and stock heads it will run strong but will be a tad soggy off the line.
