most cams do require a prom change.
but your in luck because the maf system will give you more oppions to chose from. check out some of the comp compatible cams from comp and crane too.

if you mean to get a dif computer, dont.
get a chip burned or buy a jet chip.
i looked at some cams that will work with the stock computer. and heres what i got.
comp cams:
XE256H---intake/exhaust 212/218 dur .449/456 lift 112 LSA
good for 1200-5200 rpms (i recomend this one)

XE262H--- 218/224 dur. .464/.470 114LSA (this would be nice with diff runners and Base w/full exhaust, if your willing to do all that.)
NOTE: THESE ARE FLAT HYD. CAMS FOR 86 AND EARLIER MOTORS. IF YOU HAVE A 87 AND LATER MOTOR YOU WILL NEED A ROLLER CAM.

MY PLAN WAS TO UPGRADE THE RUNNERS AND THE BASE,THE HEADS AND THE CAM.WHAT DO YOU GUYS THING. BUT FIRST I NEED TO REMOVE THE ENGINE FROM THE CAR TO SEE WHAT YEAR. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP I NEED IT.

If it is from an 86 then chances are it is a 305 TPI.
Runners intake manifold heads and cam would make a huge difference.
