got question siamesing intake and runners?

Can you siamesing of the intake and runners to the stock setup? How does it work? I read the tech article on it, i didnt know if that was stock, or aftermarket setup. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

I myself am not very knowledgable on this subject, but i dont think it can be done on the stock intake without welding the runner pairs together. If you look at the stock intake, the runners dont actually touch each other, thus making the "siamesing" impossible without welding.

Not sure but wasnt it proven? It was a bad idea to do the base intake. Something about lean cylinders, few people blowing motors because of it.

Or have i just been drinking again.

no you havent, it was on another thread. i dont remember which one thou.
anywho, the runner yes but dont do it to the base. i would just recomend buying some siemeased runners, for the cost and time it would take to do it to your stock ones, and even then the aftermarket runners are bigger.

just my two cents.

he means the fuel mix will be lean.
meaning that there is more air than there needs to be in the combustion chamber.

Thats what i thought he meant. But i wouldnt have that problem, due to the fact that i have 36lb injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, twin 58mm tb, and a walbro 255 lph high pressure fuel pump. Im not to worried about that, i was just looking for a better way to increase the air flow without spending anymore money on the intake, runners or plenum. Im doing a port and polish job on it. But i have heard that the TPI setup has air flow issues over 4000 rpm. Like i said, just looking for some more air flow, without too much more money for now. I will eventually add the siamesed high flow runners and intake. Thats awhile down the road though.

That lean thing was disproved on at least one motor, mistaken analysis. I ran a base for 14k miles with 0 problems and when I pulled the heads there was no evidence of lean cylinders. If it was an issue, it'd be clear as day on the valves or rings and there wasnt any evidence.

So would all of this mean that i can do the runners and not the intake?

You can do the Top intake (plenum), and the stock runners. Most people do not realize this, but you CAN infact siamese through the flange of the runners, which is about just under a half inch. This will let you siamese the plenum as well. Just don't break through to the runner. There's alot of material to be removed but don't get carried away. Also remember you can do the ledges in the front of the plenum where the throttle body holes are.

Does it help? I dont know but as far as I was concerned, it is free, it's practical, makes sense, and not very time consuming. Took me maybe an hour with the proper tools.

I'm going to send it to his polisher buddy before it goes on....For now, while
I'm building my vortec 5.7, I'll run it on my internally stock 5.0-I seriously
doubt I'll see any benefits, might even see a loss of torque, until it's on
something with a cam/heads.
