Why the flat tappet in the '94 block?

I ran the numbers for you. But, your compression depends on where your pistons are installed, zero deck, in the hole? I believe your head gasket is .043 so assuming a 30 thousanths in the hole you get 9.7:1 CR.

296 HP 407 TQ assuming headers and a good exhaust. I probably shouldn't have done this, you didn't give enough information to be accurate, but it's close.

All truck blocks came with flat tappet. What other info would you need to get more accurate numbers. Oh the pistons were installed at stock height. I didn't deck the block. I will have headers, no smog, no cat, flowmaster mufflers. Let me know what else info you would need. Thanks!

299 HP 417 TQ. With stock installed height pistons and headers, no cat, flowmaster, etc. I was close the first time.
