steps on tuning fuel pressure

Well ive decided to go with the holley afpr instead of the other types because it seems on the cheaper ones the screw hits the holley one is easier to turn. I hear lately people have had problems with changing there fp and the **** being hard to turn. Also once i install one how do i change the fp what are some steps how do i adjust idle and wot? I thought u install it with the vaccum line on and turn the **** and with a gauge watch fuel pressure at idle and thats it but apperantly im wrong help me out.

If its anything like my old GN was, you set it with the vacuum line off at idle(static). Once you set it to were you want it(I thought I read 50psi was a good starting point for TPI??), then you put the vacuum line back on. Your fuel pressure will drop a few pounds, thats normal. What are you using to tell if its running rich or lean? I always looked at my 02 counts at WOT, but that was a turbo car. I am pretty new to messing around with SBC's. Not really sure if I helped at all. -Nick.

but 50psi might be a little too high. for every day driving just use anything up to 45psi. now when you get to the track you can tune it to what ever makes more power. the reason i say not to turn it up while every day driving is because i heard that it puts a lot of strain on the fuel pump. again thats what i heard.

You set your FP with the vac line off. I went from the stock 45 to 49 and seen no increase in performance (track times). I think I'm going to try and lean it out a bit next year.
