180/195 heads revisited
I have ben following the 180/195 head question thread with interest. Rather than hijack a thread, I'm posting my question here: From what I've gathered, 180 heads are best for under 6000 rmp. THis is me right now. However, on the future I'd like to supercharge my car. This is a few years off though. Will the "overly large" 195 head hurt performance if I were to install them now?

no not at all. you will still notice a good gane in power. remember its only a maginal amount of lowend loss, and thats compared to the 180cc.

Heh. THe one already installed in the car when I bought it. I lost the papers on it, so until I take it to someone, I don't know the specs. Just that it cam from Comp Cams... but they offer several
I just know that it has a nice lope to it. I'd consider it moderately agressive, I think.
I just know that it has a nice lope to it. I'd consider it moderately agressive, I think. How large an intake port you need depends primarily on the displacement and how high you intend to spin it to make your power. If you throw a blower on the exact same motor you have now that's not a reason to put on bigger heads all by itself. If, along with the blower, you intend to spin it higher (bigger cam, higher RPM intake, etc.) and/or up the displacement then yes, maybe you should go with the larger heads now in prepration for future upgrades. If not, no.

Well what about a TPI engine with a blower would the trade off in velocity for the extra CFM be worth it and how would the cruise and idle be affected?
