Advice needed please...

Here's my story: I have an '89 IROC convertible with a 5.7L swap and the stock T-5 tranny. I recently had it in to have the A/C compressor replaced. Ran perfect before that. On the way home it began dropping to 500 rpm or less and stalled every time I took it out of gear. I've had it back in there twice now to have the idle speed adjusted. It is now at the point where it is set at 2100 rpm(!) just to keep actually at 600 out of gear. They swear there are no vacuum issues.

After doing a search, it seems this might be TPS or IAC related. Perhaps fuel pump. My big question is this: shouldn't my shop have checked all of these and caught them? I have been taking my cars here for 11 years with excellent results. However, they have several new mechanics. Is it time to find a new shop, or do y'all have other advice?

Why would they check you fuel stuff when they were doing a A/C R&R ? It's very possible they missed a vaccuum line . But you say it's not related. How do you know that for sure? I had a hose not connected to the TB correctly ( had a split) .... I couldn;t keep it idleing . new $3.00 hose bada bing bada boom . She ran perfect.
