cant set minimum air with vader article

Basically my idle screw is normally the farthest in it can go (the throttle lever cant go back any furthere than where its at).

I performed the procedure exactly as written. When in park (A/T) if i adjust any lower than 500 rpm it dies (supposed to be at 400 rpm at idle in park for auto trans).

I am using the dash stock tach to make adjustments.

When i reconnect everything and start. Its the same as it was. About 1000-1100 rpm in park and about 750 rpm in drive.

The throttle is the furthest back it can go counter-clockwise.

Is there something i am over looking?

Clean the IAC and the passages in the throttle body, as well as the throttle bores themselves behind the throttle blades, and clean the back of the throttle blades with carburetor cleaner. Then start over...

pull it check and clean it and the passage behind it, sometimes they get pretty carboned up.

yuck that was disgusting. To think I had so much gunk! I had rivers of brown nasty stuff flowing out of the TB holes. Wow...I guess cleaning does make a diff. Only problem now is that my IAC valve rolled off to somewhere...the great heaven of lost parts while working on your car. It was all gunked up. Oh well...I'd like a delco one but I have to settle for autozone

crap...so i plug in a new iac valve (wells) ajd set it by the book. 400 rpm in an auto trans in drive. Now it runs like crap. While driving, the rpms are too high, like around 2 grand while in drive at a dead stop. Maybe the engine wasnt warmed up enough when i set it. But whne i start it cold it feel like its about to die.
