What's next?

What's next?

Holley Stealth Ram VS. cam, rockers, lifters

It's a 1992 z28 350 TPI 5-speed. The motor and intake have not been touched. I did fabricate a "ram air" behind the fog lights. It has headers, gutted cat, and 3" flowmaster catback. Also Accell 8.8mm wires and accell coil. It's all in the sig but i can't get it to show up on my posts

best time: 13.69@102.5 2.16 60'
ave. time: 13.9x@10-102 2.2 60'
She spins all throughfirst on street tires (M/T drag radials for next year)
I'm hoping for 12's and can't decide which route to go. Any input is appreciated. Thanx

Swap the cam out, lifters should be ok. But you will need new springs and throw in some new valve seals. Once you take things apart, it will make it that much easier to swap something else out farther down the road.
Might as well change your timing gear and chain also if your going that far also.

If your car is an orginal stick shift car and the original motor is in the car, then it is not a 350. It is a 305.

I see your new on the board. So check your VIN to confirm the engine type. If the 8th digit is an "F" then it is a 305. GM did not make any 5-speed cars with 350's in 1992.

Fine cam just make sure your heads can handle the lift. Also if your valve springs can handle the cam. Works best with beehives.

Thanks everybody!

tenpin842- Why change out timing gear and chain? I didn't think that would be a weak link. Of course, I am still learning.

you've gotta pull the base off to get to the cam anyways, give your car a few days down time after you get the cam in and port the living snot outa that base. Not every day you pull the intake.

ED:you change the timing chain and cam sprocket because old ones can have stretch in the chain that can throw your timing off and they have been known to break here and again, but it's pretty rare.

Well, dont forget to get a fuel injector oring kit, Fuel rail oring kit, New valve seals. Most cam swaps recommend a new Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Hummmm....Im trying to think of what else your going to need, I just swapped all my stuff out in July. I would get a new timing chain set. Then a new gasket for the timing cover. New valve cover gaskets, Plenum gaskets, runnre gaskets, intake gaskets, Your stock push rods will be ok unless you want to buy some new ones. I used my stock ones. I just cleaned them up really good. I used my stock lifters (roller ones). Have fun with it, I enjoyed it alot.

gaskets!! can't forget them. I plan to put in an adj. fpr anyways so that's no problem. I may not be able to have time to port the base because I will be using my dad's garage at his business. Hopefully he won't need both bays for a couple days. I'm going to have to sweet talk him into letting me keep t there.
Thanks again guys i appreciate all your experienced insight.
