5 Speed TPI Swap
I will try to keep this post short and to the point. I have a 1985 IROC Z that originally came with the 305 TPI and auto tranny. A previous owner swapped in a carb and 5 speed. I want to put the TPI setup back on the car, and leave the 5 speed. The wiring is all cut up so I plan to get a complete setup with wiring and computer, MAF. Do I need to look for a setup from a manual tranny car, or will an auto tranny setup work okay? I have heard somewhere that the PROM will need to be reprogrammed for a manual tranny. If so, who can do the reprogramming I need? Can someone please educate me on this subject? I did a search with no results. Many thanks.

it would probably be better to find a 5speed wiring harness but good luck as 5speed cars are hard to find. You can run a wiring harness from an automatic car with no issues. I swapped a TKO600 into mine and am running the stock chip and all. Just swap the automatic harness in and wire the neutral safety switch to the clutch pedal switch and you are good to go.

Automatic Prom works fine, but you will probably get a little more performance with a manual prom.
I converted my car to 5 speed 2 years ago and am still using the auto prom.
I should burn a new one, but haven't really felt like fiddling with it.

Thanks so much for the response guys. I just wanted to be sure i got everything I needed at once. As you guys already know, it will nickel and dime you to death to piece a setup together. Fuel injection is new to me as I am accustomed to dealing with first gen camaros with carb setups, so I am sure I will have more questions to come. God bless and Merry Christmas.
