My potential combo - opinions?
Here is what I have.
383 stroker(bore 4.030, stroke 3.75) with forged speedpro pistons, cast crank and stock rods.
Exhaust:
1 5/8 hedman shorty headers(ceremic coated)
custom 3" y-pipe with x-pipe to 3" dual exhaust dumps(track only)
Heads:
I want a 2.02(or slightly bigger) aluminum head
190cc to 200cc port size
64cc chamber( this would make a 10.75 compression)
Haven't decided on a brand yet but AFR or Canfield are my picks so-far.
Cam:
Option #1 - comp xe258hr (206/212) (.480/.487) with 110LSA (this is a hydraulic roller cam
Option #2 - bullit cam(236/238) (.510/.520) with a 110LSA (this is a hydraulic cam)
I have 1.6 roller rockers as well.
Induction:
Option #1- ported stock TPI intake
Option #2 -converted for sbc gen1 LT1 intake
stock 48mm throttlebody
This car is 3650lbs with me in it
3.73 gears
Heavily built 700r4
BFG drag radials
I put on about 5000kms a summer(3100 miles)
and hit the track 4-5 times a summer
It is not my daily driver but a weekend warrior and strip car.
I have a dry zex nitrous system that can go upto 165hp.
My goals are to be in the high 10 second 1/4 mile(7 sec 1/8 mile)
SO, my question is:
What intake should I use?
What cam should I use?

To get 10's in the 1/4 you are going to need the LT-1 intake and the bigger cam. I would try and change the lobe seperation to 112 to work better with the nitrous and give you a better idle.

Use the LT1 type intake and around 230 duration cam with some 195+ heads, along with some lca relocation brackets.
You will need suspension mods and traction to get into the 10's. I'm having a hard time myself. I run 11.90's on motor and with a 150 shot to the wheels, my best is an 11.10 et. Using the theoretical et calulators, the 128 mph is good for a 10.40 et with a 1.4x 60 ft. I've gone 11.14 at 128 with a crappy 60ft. It's hard to hook up with the bottle when it hits at 3000 rpms off the line. On the 11.10 pass, the mph was 123 and the bottle was loosing pressure(almost empty). You will have to get a good 60ft to get there. My best with the bottle is 1.63 and on motor 1.65. Haven't figured it out yet but I will. My raceweight is 3690.

Thanks for the info.
Hey, 89gta383, what convertor are you using?
Also, where did you see a theoretical calculator for the et's? I remember seeing it online one time.

Yank 3500 super thruster, but I don't think they make those anymore, you would have to get the SS series converters.
