Are tpi and mpi the same thing

Transmission: 700R4 in both cars
Axle/Gears: 3.27 - 3.36 posi in both cars
I don't think so. TPI is batch injection and MPI is sequential injection.
I could be wrong about what MPI is, but I always thought it was sequential.

Generally speaking, Yes, but neither of these terms indicates when the injector is fired.
All thirdgens are batch fire; MPI (Multi Port Fuel Injection; MPFI) in general only indicates where the injector is located, which includes the TPI.

Sequential is SMPFI, or SMPI, yet most just say SPI.

Thanks, I wasn't sure because of the miss-use of the MPI,SMPI,SPI, I do know the difference between batch and sequential, my 85' Buick GrandNational was sequential.

I believe Buick was the pioneer of sequential injection and distributorless ignition as well.
