Camaro or Trans Am
Ok i have a 1987 trans am gta 350TPI, 700R4, 3.27 w/ Posi ive had the car for awhile and little stuff is starting to mess up on it. I have a buddy with a 1991 rs camaro it is only a v6 and single trac but its has $3000 in the v6 and some body mods also has $400+ in exhaust. He wants to trade me and give me $1500. i have $4300 in my car and would be getting about $4500 out of it and im a mechanic so i can always swith the v6 for a sbc later.

ok ive had the gta and i dont want to mod it because it is a GTA.
and No matter what vehicle i have im not goin to keep for 10 years maybe 1 or 1 1/2 years at the most. im not keeping it a sixer but gas is killin me right now. im basically wanting opinion based on which one would be a good start on a 10-11 sec drag/street car
----------
but im very skeptical about odding gta so ive pretty much got my mind made up just wanting some people to back up my choice and the GTa is stating to have things go wrong. the RS is a very nice car though new pearl white paint 4 inch cowl $400+ exhaust and $3000 in the v6

ha. sounds like you've got your mind made up.
It's not like the GTA is actually worth a lot, but it will always have some inherent value.
10-11 secs.
The GTA's rear might actually let you do that. Look at the TTAs times with stock rear. Already has a 350...which may or may not get you that number consistently, depending. rebuilt 700r4 may or may not let go at that power level, depending.
You think the RS won't eventually have things go wrong with it? if you want something different to refill that motivational fuel...why go backwards, or even get another 3rd gen? At least start with something a step forward...
For what its worth...

Spray it til it does the same thing then trade it off for a f*rd? Things happen, can't keep dodge(ing) them (no pun intended).

Plus, you need to swap out the v6 in the Camaro anyway. So, if the tranny went in the GTA, why not just swap out the motor/tranny in that instead?
To me, it seems like you just like the looks of Camaros better. (... unless the Camaro is in VASTLY better condition than your GTA) But lets face the facts dude.
I'm sorry if I hit a sore spot, but you did come here looking for advice

If you already have the 350, might as well start there.... half way to the 11s

GTA's can be modded racecars as easy as ugly RS camaros. only thing camaros have going is a little more underhood room.
