305 heads on a 350

i have a 89 tpi motor and was wandering if using 305 tpi heads would do me any good or just stick with the ones i have

it would raise compression and it would then cause you to have to use higher octane fuel. personally i would stick with what you have with the price of gas now a days

Do you have access to a datalogging tool? You'd only need higher octane gas with the 305 heads if you start detonating.
Old schoolers used to throw 305 heads on 350's all the time.
Detonation is the only thing you'd have to worry about. Maybe you could retard your timing a bit to help alleviate that worry.

yes but that would offset the advantages of raising the compression

ah that idea just died.i found a set of vortec heads for 200 with no miles. thanks for the help
