U need it when it gets cold.
It is there for a reason.
I would convert to the 89 MAF code which is the latest revision anyhow ands doesnt use a cold start injector. Then I would remove it and plug it.

I pulled mine. Plugged it. And changed the startup fueling tables. Starts with just a flip of the key regardless of weather now. Gotta love prom crap.

Car: '89 Trans AM/'88 GTA
Engine: (2) Tuned Port L98's
Back to what 3.8TransAM & firebirdjosh said,
I had to rebuild my L98 after it detonated,
I used some parts off a 1988 Trans AM
GTA, Including a cold-start intake manifold
and fuel rail.
Although my '89 car doesnt require
the cold-start injector, I still ran the
9th Injector, because I didnt have a
block-off plate at the time for the intake
manifold, and it looks clean ..It basically
stops a humongous vacuum leak.
The "dud" 9th Injector doesnt seem to
hinder performance in any way I can think
of, It also doesnt mess with my start-up,
for my '89 car isnt programmed for it.
Im with Josh, Itd be more of a waste
of time, then a favor. You'd do yourself
a favor by converting like 3.8 said.. then
if you wanted to remove the injector, then
by all means do so.. Just dont look for any
performance gain or the like..
