Harness change from manual to Auto

Hi Guys,

I have a TPI motor and harness from a 92 Z28, the car had a 5 speed manual and I want to install it in my 91 RS which has a 700R4. Is there anyway to adapt the manual harness for the auto to control the lock up on the transmission. I know I will have to change the chip in the ECU but thats no problem.

Thanls,

Alex

You'll need to make several wiring changes:
  1. Provide a PARK/NEURAL switch input to the ECM terminal D16;
  2. Provide wiring for the "4th gear" switch input to the ECM terminal F6;
  3. Disable the ECM output for the "Shift" lamp at ECM D14 (that ECM sinking output will be used for the TCC);
  4. Provide an additional N.C. brake pedal switch to interrupt the TCC circuit;
  5. Wire power from the GAGES circuit through the NC contacts of the brake switch to power the TCC solenoid;
  6. Wire the starter circuit through the PARK/NEUTRAL switch instead of the clutch pedal switch;
  7. Wire the rear hatch release through the PARK/NEUTRAL switch.
There are probably others I've overlooked, but those some of are the main differences.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I've purchased a harness for an auto car. You maybe able to answer this question. With the harness I have just got I can identify all of the plugs but have three pairs of cut wires. A pair of orange that are on the drivers side and two pairs of black wires that are over by the battery. With the black wires one pair has a red tracer and the other has a purple tracer. Do you know what these wires are for?

Thanks,

Alex
