tpichips.com ?

im going to build a biggass motor right away,, and plan on sticking with efi

do these chips work good,, i know BURN YOUR OWN CHIPS!!!!
but if all i ahve is a factory 305 chip,, and nothing to tune off,, how will i get the motor started!!!

motor will be a 400 sbc, with a fairly mild tappet cam, and probably stock heads for the time being,, somewhere in the 350 horse power 400 plus ft pounds,,, intake will be HSR or a custom sheetmetal one copying the one from tpis/ lt1 intake style

are these chips good enough? or is there a way i can get into chip burning without grenading my motor while trying to break it in? i dont feel like having a horrible A/F ratio and stupid timing on my beutiful pistons!!!

Re: tpichips.com ?

some people have had good luck with after market chips, but most have gotten better results by making their own.

this question would probably be better in DYI-PROM.
is your car still running? if so, now is the time to start to learn how to burn your own.
depending on what you go with & if you already have a laptop & go the cheap way, about $100.00 will get you the stuff to get started. if you go hog wild, AutoProm, bin switcher & remote switch, wide band O2, your looking at around $700.00 or so.

to burn your own chip, a stock chip for a 350 would be better to start with, from there you make a few changes for engine & injector size. it probably wouldn't be a bad ideal to pull some timing during break in to be safe.

Re: tpichips.com ?

I used him for the chip in my new engine. Its only temporary because i want to burn my own eventually.I just gave him a try because i was ready to drive my car after a year of saveing and building and he was affordable.I am happy with his work after 4500 miles and it appears he did a good job doing the things i asked for.If you have the extra money though I would go with Ed Wright fast chips. Also used him before and from what i understand he is one of the best if not the best, although twice as expensive. But as was stated you would get better results from doing your own.

Re: tpichips.com ?

Jamy at LS Racing Chips gave me an excellent tune (mail order..told him my combo, he nailed it on the 2nd try; that's WAY ahead of me learning to 'burn chips', although I will be 'rolling my own' chips soon!). Give him a call (330) 575-4162, tell him Bill sent you!.....then learn to tune on your own.
3rd Gens rock.. you can always build for power, but LS1's just don't have the "mean" look.
