389 HSR-AFR195 6E Tuning
Hi all!
I'm new to the whole DIY Tuning Stuff, but I think it it more than vital for my engine to run in proper parameters.
I have more or less the same engine like my Buddy "88´TransAM" , unfortunately he has a TBI injected engine, so we cannot share our bins.
Since I got my new moates aldu1+cabl1 I can do datalogs together with my wbo2's data injected to the aldl datastream.
Maybe I'm getting a custom tune from tpichips.com but I haven't heard from them yet.
In the meantime I'd like to learn a little bit.
Today I made a small logfile, just at idle, adjusting tps&iac at operating temperature, and later on some revs.
tomorrow, I'll get my tranny back into place (currently out of the car after replacing a leaking rear main seal).
Maybe some of you can tell me if there are special changes to be made to optimize the AFR ratio which is a bit nervous and a little bit too rich.
Before I forget, some specs about my engine:
389 2-bolt-rollerblock with 1-pcs-mainseal, bored to 4.065" over. Eagle crankshaft with flattop-hypereutectic-pistons.
Jones Custom Grind Cam:
Duration intake @0.05 224°
Duration exhaust @0.05 226°
Lift intake .535" (/w 1.6 rocker arms)
Lift exhaust .528" (/w 1.6 rocker arms)
Lobe separation 109°
Heads:
AFR 195 /w 65 ccm combustion chamber.
With my head gasket, i´ll get a compression ratio 10.8:1.
My rockers are YellaTerra roller rockers (stainless steel), 1.6's
My tranny is a TH700R4 with raybestos clutches, kevlar brake band, transgo reprogramming kit stage 2 (automatic version). Acc Performance Boss Hogg Nightstalker Level 2 converter @2200-2800 rpm stall, Corvette Servo
Rear end is a BW 9bolt 3.27

Re: 389 HSR-AFR195 6E Tuning
Very similar to my car. I just moved away from 165 to 730...and am learning to tune all over again.
On the MAF, I had trouble and had to modify the boundaries of the MAF tables to get enough fuel into the engine. Too Rich is better than too lean. I ran all open loop on mine last year..never got it into closed loop before I put it away for the year...moving to SD I haven't gotten too far into it yet.
