Oil/lifters/valley help ...

I went to tighten my rockers up since they were starting to sing kinda loud .... and find there's not much oil getting up to the rockers ... the rockers and rods look ok, no grinding .. no shaving's nothing looked wrong so i was told to check my lifter valley plugs? ... one of the ones just inside behind the timing chain could have blown off ... does anyone know exactly what i'd be looking for so i can go ahead and check this and get to the next stage of me being screwed ... lol

ps, i have anywhere between 35-55 lbs of pressure .. its not the pump.

I originally wanted either new heads or head work ... but it looks like i got work in other areas first ... =(

Rockers don't get "tightened up", they get lashed. They don't need a whole lot of oil, either. If you're getting any oil to them at all, it's probably enough.

bad choice of words, yes .. lashed... i went by the book ... i keep getting told different things ... there is alittle oil, you can see a small puddle .. enough to dip maybe two fingers on the rocker after startup ... i didn't have the covers off .... and when i went by the chilton's relash adjustments it made it a hell of alot worse .... could i just been a noob and screwed that up and should try it again?

Re: Oil/lifters/valley help ...

When the car is running with the covers off you will see how much oil you will get, You will get enough up there.

If you over tighten or put too mush lash on the rockers you can bend stock pushrods, or even flatten out the camshaft. And at worst bend valves of they are too tight they can hang open and nail the piston. You have to go thru and turn ther motor over for every single cylinder you are going to adjust the intake and exhaust valves on. You have to get that piston to a certain point to adjust the intake valve and then re adjust that same piston to adjust the exhaust.
