I want to know what cam works best with the vortec tpi setups. Im looking for the idiot cam if you know what i mean, [ cant go wrong]

This is what i have
92 roller block bored .030"
speed-pro flat top hypereutectic pistons with coated skirt
eagle I-beam connecting rods
comp double roller timing set
comp pushrods
1.5 roller rockers with screw in studs
new gm lifters
new vortec heads, casting 12558062 machined for lift
sdpc vortec baseplate & egr tube
Slp runners [ semi siamesed]
hedmen longtubes [AIR delete] to a 2 1/4 y pipe around the tranny into a 3" cat and a hooker aerochamber.
cold air intake
AFPR

the motor also came with these
accel 30# injectors
comp cams camshaft
-224/230 duration @ .050
-503/510 valve lift
-112 deg. lobe separation
comp springs to match

I think the injectors are too big, im gonna go with 24 pound an hour.
I also think the cam is no good. I want to know what cam i need for my setup.

why do you think the cam is no good

are you using the MAF system from the 89 or are you using the MAP system from the 92

I am using the zz4 cam that you can get for under 150 on E-bay in a 305 using stock ported heads aggresively ported stock runners and pleneum.

yesterday after letting someone adjust my timing I was goin 10mph and hit the throttle 3/4 and it lit them up all the way into chirpin second. that guy had the touch or the ear

all and all I would reccomend the zz4 for sure

 

I run the LPE216 cam on my 355 Blower motor. Without blower its an awesome cam. With the blower its even better.

 

i dont like the cam becuase it wasnt chosen specifically for the motor, it was just a throw in. I am using the 89 MAF setup. I have also heard mixed opinions about the Lt4 hotcams.

There's nothing wrong with that cam, or the injectors. Unless you want something with better idle quality and less power. Dont forget you will need a custom chip tuned specifically for your engine.

 

i plan on driving the car all summer, i want a cam with good power and decent driveability, this car has to be dependable.

okay,, i think i have found the cam i need.. its the comp cams xfi268.
I also found a part number for the cam that came with my motor.. its
CS XR276HR -12

I need opinions on whether i should bother to switch, and if the xf1268 will work with my 1.5 roller tip rockers and the comp springs from the cam i currently have.

What is the hot cam they reference in the link at scoggins Dickey?

 

i would assume it is the LT4 hotcam. Any answers for my previous question?

400 HP using that cam, but it is nearly the same came as the one you have! The xfi268 is 224/231 with 113 LSA. 520/515 lift

If you would like a little less cam, try the xfi260, or even xfi252.

I"m happy with my cam, Comp 08-502-8. Your injectors are fine as long as the chip is burnt for it. Of course your drivetrain better be able to handle the torque. I'm getting ready for Transmission number 3 and Torque Converter number 4.

 

well we will see how the drivetrain holds up, im getting my tranny build by a well known local [Jim Edgar], his trannys are known to be really tough. I would also like to get a vigilante stall. Then of course ive got the aussie posi rear end with boxed panhard and lcas. I am hoping to blow my rear end so i can have my uncle [cam] formerly 87roct56 build me one of his 8.8 ford rear ends.

do you guys think i would really feel the difference between the cam ive got and the 268fi?

i suppose what i really want to know is how is the driveability on my CS-XR27HR-12 compared to te xfi268. From what im reading it sounds like the cam ive got has alot of lump and should probably belong in a 383.
