roller rockers
I have thought about adding some roller rockers. I saw jegs sells the crane gold race extruded billet aluminium (part # 270-10751-16 and 270-10758-16) and claims that they are 50 state legal. Should I go with 1.5 or the 1.6 self align(what does this really mean anyway?) I want to know if it is worth the money or do I need a cam first? If so, which cam?
I am very confused
**they have to be smog legal parts**
am I wasting my time? should I just buy some headers first?
The plan for the car is to have a nice cruiser with some good power.
Thanks in advance

Re: roller rockers
1.6 will in effect make it act like you have a slightly larger cam.
Personally I would stay away from aluminum on a street car. Aluminum tends to bend/crack/get weak. I chose stainless, myself.

Re: roller rockers
Ive been running my Crane 1.52r roller rockers with no
problem at all. Yes, they are aluminum and will wear out
at some point. But I had gotten a great discount on them
and had to go with them. I wont expect them to wear out
for another few thousand miles. Then, ill opt to go steel
if needed.
Self-aligning is exactly what it states, the rocker does
not need guide-plates to keep it from wobbling off track
or having a pushrod bind up, what have you.
There are benefits to both, but you dont need shaft
mounted rockers for a motor of your tolerances.

Re: roller rockers
I have been running the summit 1.6 aluminum ones for about a year. Its my daily driver and I beat the hell out of it. No problems for me. They also are pretty. Unless your hitting extremley high rpms the aluminum should be fine.

Re: roller rockers
okay, thanks everyone for your input. It looks like I'm gonna go with the steel. Still don't know if I should use the 1.5 or the 1.6, what do you guys think I should get? How long will the steel rockers last?
The car has 69xxx miles and is driven during the summer months.
