with stock l98 heads, and all the other stock peices optimized(ported plenum, stock runners, siamesed ported base) what hp can be achieved? i know thats general but im looking for between 275 and 300 hp and wondering where to start. it's a modest power number but its all i want from the motor, launchable, driveable, and pretty quick. i dont mind losing a bit of torque to gain mid to high rpm power, i think that a lil less torque or the same torque and more hp would be easier to drive out of corners.

With the mods you spec'd, I'm unsure which is the choker...heads or runners. I'll say the heads are the limiting factor in that setup...and they'll limit you to 300hp +/- gross in stock, unmodified form. The runners have been shown to flow enough cfm to make those numbers. Pocket porting the heads and using aftermarket runners should let you make that number in gross form more attainable. Then the camshaft becomes the limiting factor.
Good shifting trans., and proper rear gear and that format can make a decent street driver.
Take it for what its worth.

Your heads are bottle necking your power limit. It would help to replace the runners however those heads will limit your power.
??What are you using for your exhaust?? (Headers? Catback?)

Re: stock tpi potetial
i'm working from the back forward, i have a dynomax bullet muffler on a 3 inch mandrel cat back, stock form there up, next is a removal of the cat, then probably a hooker 2055 setup. oddly enough my gta has a 3 inch cat, and a 3 inch ypipe that was obiously fabbed from the stock peice so this will be quite easy. the bullet is a mean sounding muffler. i get more people backin down from a mean exhaust note then anything. also with the l98 heads what kinda of ratio of intake to exhaust duration should i be looking from, i now these heads have a crappy exhaust flow. thinking of using a set of 8 1.6 ration rockers on the exhaust and keepin 1.5's on the intake side
