8.7 compression ratio
8.7 compression ratio
Can TPI motor be built with 8.7:1 compression ratio to have really good streetable power.
I have a chance to buy a GM shortblock but it only has 8.7 cr with my vortec heads. I WOULD LIKE TO GET 325hp TO THE REAR WHEELS oops caplock.
Thanks

Mill the heads and bring the compression up.

You can also use a thinner head gasket. GM makes a good one that is only .028" thick.

Re: 8.7 compression ratio
yah you are definitely going to want more compression, the easiest thing to do is to get the heads milled, and also use a thin gasket..... to see the biggest differece you need to change the pistons

Re: 8.7 compression ratio
i wouldn't mill the heads unless you had too. if you mill them now and a year or two down the road overheat and slighly warp the head surface the vortecs are ruined. also with the intake design you will also have to mill the intake side of the head. and some will say you can angle mill them and not do the intake but you gotta remember a vortec has that different bolt pattern and it will matter. been there and done that.
