hey, finnaly got my gta on the road. i dunno much about the car or tpi for that matter but its an 87 l98 and i''m having issues with a lil bit of surging while driving, also the SES light comes on and off intermittanly with no relation to temperature other then not right at startup, but after at least a few minutes, it'll stay on for maybe ten or twenty minutes then go away. the fuel consumption was horrendous until the last time i filled it up which was only the second time and it's a bit better now. it threw a code 42 and 44 the last time i pulled them.
things i know are wrong:
pass. fan is on permanantly, suspect the temp sensor/connector in the pass. side of the block
it has all rubber fuel line (ugghhh) and an old lookin generic fuel filter.
the coolant level sensor is hanging loose because i swapped in the rad. from the camaro and it didn't have a port for it(does anybody know how to disable it? i think it just needs to be grounded right?)
timing is set at 0* advanced haven't had time to set it right yet.
when it's surging i think i can hear quiet popping from the exhaust, no guaruntees on that cause it's hard to hear over the 3rd gen orchestra of squeeks in my interior
so i have a bit of work ahead of me. plan on replacing the o2 this weekend with a new bosch, setting the timing right on tuesday as well as cleaning and resetting the IAC an d possibly tps if i can find more info. Does anything in here pop out at you that might be giving me issues? i know it's alott but i've only been driving for 3 days.

Sounds like you have alot of work cut out for you.
Read the FAQ section on the home page here,,, do a complete tune-up, buy good stuff, replace the plugs, set the timing to spec, check the TPS, set the idle speed. Check the resistance on all fuel injectors. The preceding stuff is all basic to a TPI fuel injector car.
Fix the fuel system,,, what are you talking about rubber fuel lines and a old stlye fuel filter. You should have hard lines running from the fuel tank on up to the engine bay,, rubber lines then run to the front of the TPI intake and joins to the fuel rail fittings. Also, the fuel filter should be located under the car below the rear seat behind the driver,,, not in the engine bay.

the fuel filter is in the right location, however the fuel lines from the tank all the way to the motor are rubber, while the are labled as being fuel lines and designed to be used in this fashion, it's far less then ideal right? i think the might have a larger inner diameter as well which would kill my fueling on the top end and wear out my fuel pump
