really rich idle and stalling

Engine: L98
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9bolt
really rich idle and stalling
well I just fixed one problem then I had another problem......... now I thought I had the car running great, and its messed up again......
Anyways, the car is a 88 GTA L98 143K miles all stock except 1.6 RR's
The car has been running good but now when I crank it and let it idle it will barly run and puff smoke pretty bad. If I tap the throttle it is fine or if im going down the road it is fine.
Also after I drive the car down the road it will idle fine, the check engine light is on but I cant get any codes out of it except 12
Also when I floor it going down the road once the rpm's get up to aroun 4000 it will blow oily smoke out under the dash, i can see the smoke coming out of the steering coulum it looks like.
