porting runners and manifold
I have an 89 formula 350 that is somewhat stock with msd ignition, custom burned chip, 160 stat., highflow flowmaster exhaust. I was thinking about pulling the runners and manifold to port them. Does anyone have any support on this and would this be just as good as say running SLP runners on the car? I want to gain more torque but want to know the best alternatives. Thanks guys for any input.

Re: porting runners and manifold
I ported a TPI intake I still have from my IROC, that's no more, it definitelly makes a difference. The first time at the race track, over 11 runs, I went from a 15.1 to a 13.89 with a bad trans. Just stick with the stock runners, if your not going to change your gears. That's what I did, the intake is made to emphasize torque, that's what I stook with.
If your going to spend 300$ on SLP runners, get a HSR, it's only $299.99, and when you buy the fuel rail and gas line, to tap into the stock stuff, you'll only spend like $650 or less. That's what I did, I'll have to see about taking my intake apart, and maybe posting some pics of it. It works as well as the SDPC vortec one or edelbrock big mouth. The stock one works great, it makes as much as 7lbs of boost because it moves air so fast through it. Get a TPIS airfoil, remove the MAF's screens, and the fins if you want, it will flow enough for a 406 then. The stock TB is good enough for a 502, so I wouldn't waste time replacing that or the money. Unless you go to 6700 with a 406.
